Aniboom Partners with Communication Artist Gideon Amichay to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. The special project showcases (http://www.youtube.com/aniboom911) the work of animation artists from around the world and more artists are invited to participate
September 8, 2011 – Aniboom Virtual Studio (aniboom.com), the world’s first virtual animation studio, has partnered with leading Communication Artist Gideon Amichay to honor the upcoming 10th anniversary of 9/11 by bringing together animators from all over the world.
Amichay envisioned that each participant would create a short animation inspired by the title:
9/11. It’s been ten years.
The vision, mood, and message of every ten-second animation vary greatly among the individual artists. This collection of 9/11 animation shorts is currently being screened in its entirety on the Web on Aniboom’s 9/11 YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/aniboom911) with future plans to debut in different forms on television and in real-world venues. All animation clips are signed with the artist’s name followed by the flag of his/her home country.
Uri Shinar, Aniboom’s CEO, made the following statement, “Although it’s been 10 years, I believe that this impressive body of work, created by independent artists from all over the world, shows that this tragic event is still very much alive in our collective minds and hearts. And for me, that’s exactly what this project is all about.”
Gideon Amichay, the creator of the project, said, “We invited animation artists from 30 countries to take part in commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I believe that the grief is cosmopolitan. I felt that I must create something and share it with artists and people from all over the world. I collaborated with Aniboom, the virtual animation studio, which shares my vision.”
This is a not-for-profit effort. Any proceeds generated by screenings on television or other media will be donated to the Twin Towers Orphan Fund and the Tuesday’s Children Organization.
More animation artists (all genres: 3D, 2D classic, stop motion, and motion graphics) from all over the world are invited to join the project in the service of our shared humanity: http://www.aniboom.com/september11
